Store

The J. Cricket store in SKP-S Beijing is Jimin Lee’s vision made manifest. Just as it allows the customer, who is at the center of her design, to inhabit the world of her imagining, it also lends itself to collaboration with other designers working in various media who remain her greatest inspiration. The space was designed by Milan-based architect Lorenzo Bini of Studio Binocle; the store is framed by a sequence of beveled wall surfaces and rainbow mirror backdrops, in colors inspired by nature, with an organically shaped marble table floating in the space. The fashion assortment is enhanced by a curated selection of artworks and design objects. Current artisans include Ugo Poggi, fourth-generation Italian craftsmen of terracotta from Tuscany; Tina Frey, a San Francisco designer of hand-sculpted resin decor items; and Gaetano Pesce, an award-winning Italian architect, interior and industrial designer, whose museum-quality pieces include a quilted mirror, velvet michetta poufs in jewel tones , and whimsical collectable floral resin bowls.

The J. Cricket store reflects the spirt, principles and philosophy that originate in Lee’s design studio. Whether in her use of upcycled materials and the repurposing of garments and objects in the J. Cricket series of items, or in the convertibility and reusability of her retail displays, Lee focuses on minimizing waste in her creative and commercial process. Likewise, just as she invites other artisans into her world, curating and proliferating their works in-store, she seeks to inspire increasing collaborations with artists in-studio, expanding a vision for a collective of creatives working under a single J. Cricket umbrella.

Quote here about this? Ending on this sort of open feeling of new possibility and expansion waiting to unfold? “What I see in the near future is….all working together…sharing ideas and acting on them.”
